Okay so is Jackson, Riedell, or Risport the best when buying ice skates? Some people have told me that Riedells break down fast and ot just pay the extra money and get Risport. Then there is the random people who tell me to get Jackson's all the way because that is what the pros were. :S So over all I am confused. By the way I am just getting ready to learn to skate.

  1. Go with Riedell if you can't do customs

  2. For beginners in classes:

    * Riedell Blue Ribbons

    * Jackson Mystique

    * Jackson Classique if you need a wide width skate

    Risports are usually pricey so I don't recommend them.

    You need to talk to a FIGURE SKATE fitter at your rink pro shop or find one online.  Based on your set of characteristics, they will recommend a skate for you that is the best skate for you and not necessarily one that is the most expensive.

    Skate fitting is based on your foot shape, age, weight, level and how often you skate.  A beginner should not have to spend more than $150 USD for a good pair of skates.

    Remember, the ankle support needs to be in proportion to the skater and the level.  Do not think that you need to spend a ton on money on your first pair of skates and you do not need customs.

  3. riedells aren't any cheaper and many pros have worn riedells and wear riedells today it really just depends on the shape of your foot as to which brans of skates you should buy
