Are they Roman Catholics, Baptists, Lutherans, Methodists, Greek Orthodox, JW's, Mormons, Pentecostals?

Come on now - what makes a false Christian? Are they false because they aren't born again? Are they false because they are born again?

  1. Well first of all there's no such thing as a Christian who's not born again. All true Christians are born again. As for the false Christians well the whole community is pretty much unified when it comes to not accepting the JW's and Mormons as "True Christians". Its another Jesus and another Gospel. As for Catholics well that's were it gets tricky, from a Protestant point of view while we would not say that all catholics are not true Christians we do believe that Catholicism is more out of touch with scripture and therefore is a false system. But most of all there are lot of "Fake Christians",the true ones are the ones on fire about Jesus. Who love him and seek only him. Many people may profess the faith but show no evidence. As Jesus said you will know them by their fruits, true christian are not the ones in a certain denomination or group of any sort, but the ones who spend there lives seeking after God.

  2. Now that's a good question.

Now one can answer that question can they.

If they attempt to answer it they would have to have divine authority to do so since the bible didn't leave them a complete definition.

This would lead to them believing in the concept of revelation which is highly disputed in the Christian religions today.  Some demand a closed cannon, while others claim that God's mouth is not closed.

Those who set forth guidlines as it pertains to being a "true" christian is, without declaring authorization, do so in self justification based on their own interpretation.

    You've opened pandora's box.

  3. Christians call the other Christians who think differently false.

In many cases, the Christians who can actually think are the ones labeled 'false".

I like to see the hypocrites who think God gave them the right to judge.

  4. Anyone who denies Jesus is "God in the Flesh" has it wrong.

So, some believe Jesus is a mere angel.  Some think Jesus just a glorified human- who through obedience, "worked his way up to being a god"(Mormons).

Catholics believe the statements in the Apostles creed, too, along with mainstream Christianity.  But too many Christians of ALL  the denominations base their salvation by their "church membership" or the fact they do the rites, prayers, rituals, etc, faithfully- while never really having examined their hearts and repented and received Christ.

They attend Mass and Worship on Sundays, but ask their families what they are actually like at home!  Full of petty meaness, short-tempered, drunks- are such really full of Christ? Or just "Churchianity"??

Lots of people in every Christian denomination are just there because "there were raised in it" but have never been born again.

  5. A Christian is somebody who follows the Message of Christ and who believes in the One True God.

  6. A false christian are ones that aren't christian but pretend to be.

What makes a christian?  One who follows the teachings of Christ, or Paul's Christ in any case.

  7. Clay,

I have been attacked by "Christians" more then I have by Non-Christians on here.  I do not proclaim Christians as True or as False.  I do believe the BIBLE and try to follow it the best of my ability at all times.  Have a great weekend and a wonderful week.

    Thanks,

    Chris and Nina,

I may not fully fit into your MOLD(s) after we get to know one another but I am very careful about my study of the BIBLE.

  8. Christ was very clear about what it took to follow him. He didn't leave anything up to interpretation if you read what he taught carefully. Any additions or subtractions from these things are not acceptable.

  9. Yes.

Simply, those who do NOT do the will of God, but claim to, are false Christians.

Matthew 7:21-23 -- "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.  Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?'  And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

Matthew 12:50 -- For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother." (also in Mark 3:35)

    A quick and easy (and visible) test is, since God says to keep holy the Sabbath day (that is God's will), those who do not, yet claim they know and worship God, are false.  {That is not to say all those who keep the Sabbath holy are true -- it goes deeper than that.}

1 John 2:4 -- He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

  10. Any Christians who's views are different than the views of people who call themselves "true" Christians, or "real" Christians.

  11. Real Christians believe in Trinity and they are born again.

  12. False groups reject one of these three truths:

    1)  Jesus is God

    2)  Faith alone saves, faith alone in the fact that Jesus died for our sins on the cross and Jesus rose from the dead

    3)  The Bible is 100% true and is the final and only authority on all matters.

Only believing all three, makes one a Christian.  You need at least numbers one and two to be saved (though it would be extremely rare that one would believe one and two, and then reject three).

  13. Whose place is it to say, really?  I personally think all the groups you mentioned are Christians.  I have no idea what criteria makes one better or worse, never mind false.  If they believe in Christ (that is, follow his teachings), they're Christian...right?

I think anyone who steps forward and condemns other Christians because they don't fit the mold that person has in his or her mind, that person is arrogant and self-righteous.  You CAN'T get inside someone else's head to know their belief system anyway, so why try?

  14. the ones who deny the Trinity....

    Kingdom of the cults

  15. It's entirely dependent on who is answering the question...

  16. Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, and LDS.

These cults don't follow the Bible.  They make their own rules.

  17. Most so-called Christians also take great pains concerning their physical life, but treat religion as an appendage that can be put on or taken off at will. They think mental assent to God’s word is all that is necessary and that faith without works is all that is required. They reject the notion of denying oneself, taking up the cross, and following Jesus Christ. They want to experience the feast of the kingdom of God without submitting to the rule of the King.

Such people are building according to their own ideas rather than the pattern God gave. They enjoy the word of God as entertainment, something that makes them feel good, but fight against obedience and holy living. The problem is that such people will not be saved. That is why we say false Christians are foolish builders.

False Christians are also foolish builders. Jesus Christ spoke about wise and foolish builders in Matthew 7. It is very simple to find out which builders are foolish and which are wise. The foolish builder never obeys and submits to Jesus Christ, never takes the word of God seriously, and never acknowledges that Jesus Christ is truly King of kings. He is truly a fool, who, according to the biblical definition, lives as if there is no God. People may go to church all their lives yet remain false and foolish.

In Matthew 7:24-25 Jesus spoke about wise builders, saying, "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." But in verse 26 he identified foolish builders, saying, "But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash." Foolish builders hear the word of God but do not think they have to obey it.

The third point is the naked guest. In Matthew 22 we read about a great wedding banquet a king gave for his son. When the invited guests did not come, the great king invited the miserable wretches of the highways and byways to enjoy this wonderful feast, which speaks about salvation. "Everything is ready. Come!" his servants said, and the people came. But when the king entered the wedding hall, he noticed one guest was not wearing the wedding garments he had supplied.

This guest wanted to enter the kingdom of God on his own terms. "I don’t worry about wedding garments. I am going to go my way," he told himself. I have met many people who adhere to this philosophy: "I will go to heaven on my own terms. I do not want the wedding garment of salvation through Jesus Christ which is freely given by God. What is wrong with my way?" Such people are like Cain, who knew that the right way to approach God was through blood sacrifice. By faith Cain’s brother Abel did the right thing, but Cain said, in essence, "I am not going to offer blood sacrifice. I am going to offer what I want to offer, and God should just accept it and bless me." To Cain’s dismay, God did not accept his offering and cursed Cain instead.

The guest who entered the hall without proper wedding garments is a type of the false Christian. Such a person will come into a church, but will not repent and trust in Jesus Christ alone. He refuses to receive God’s free gift of righteousness, and will even challenge God, saying, "I want to come the way I am. What’s so wrong with that?"

In Isaiah 64:6 Isaiah says, "All our righteous acts are like filthy rags." Yes, we are impressed with them, but they are stench in the very nostrils of God. We are so fascinated with our sin, guilt, and unrighteousness that we do not find any problem with them.

But God has other garments for us. In Isaiah 61:10 we read: "I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness." We receive this free garment of salvation when we come to God in humility, repentance and faith.

This wedding guest was refusing to honor God. He wanted the joy of the feast without honoring the King, who is God, and his Son, the heavenly Bridegroom. But we can never enjoy the feast of eternal life if we do not honor him who offers to clothe us with the free gift of salvation. This man displayed tremendous arrogance by thinking he could come to God this way.

"Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’" We must note that Jesus was clearly describing churchgoing people, not pagans, for pagans would not say these things. Note also that Jesus says that many will come and say these things.

Matthew 7:23 we read Jesus’ concluding statement to the false Christians. "Then I will tell them plainly I never knew yo

  18. Anyone who does not claim the diety, virgin birth, death, burial, resurrection, blood sacrifice, eternal priesthood, and kingship of Christ, one who does not follow after the teaching of Christ, who has not given his/her life to Christ. It is not a matter of "religion" it is a matter of faith. Born again is to be a new creature in Christ.  A true Christian is born again, obedient to the word (Christ). Christ said it best.

"Jesus said to him, Truly, I say to you, Without a new birth no man is able to see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus said to him, How is it possible for a man to be given birth when he is old? Is he able to go into his mother's body a second time and come to birth again? Jesus said in answer, Truly, I say to you, If a man's birth is not from water and from the Spirit, it is not possible for him to go into the kingdom of God. That which has birth from the flesh is flesh, and that which has birth from the Spirit is spirit. Do not be surprised that I say to you, It is necessary for you to have a second birth."John 3:3-7

"He who has my laws and keeps them, he it is who has love for me: and he who has love for me will be loved by my Father, and I will have love for him and will let myself be seen clearly by him"

    John 14:21

"If you keep my laws, you will be ever in my love, even as I have kept my Father's laws, and am ever in his love. I have said these things to you so that I may have joy in you and so that your joy may be complete. This is the law I give you: Have love one for another, even as I have love for you"John 15:10-12

It is indeed possible to think that one is Christian and not be so we are told to:

"Make a test of yourselves, if you are in the faith; make certain of yourselves. Or are you not conscious in yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you, if you are truly Christ's?"2 Cor 13:4-5

Anyone not absolutey convinced of Christ in "me the hope of glory" should examine their faith. Whether it be real or imagined. If your life has no evidence of change, if you continue in sin without remorse and desire to quit, If Christ is not increasing in Your life, then I would ask Him to show me where I am missing Him.

The best answer to me to ask myself am I really a Christian? How do I know that I am? Should my life be any different? Can others see Christ in me?

Do I desire more of Him and less of me? Am I seeking Him?

Test Yourself. Test Your faith. Test Your religion.

"Prove your own selves. The word here used (δοκιμαζετε) is stronger than that before used, and rendered "examine," (πειραζετε.) This word, prove, refers to assaying or trying metals by the powerful action of heat; and the idea here is, that they should make the most thorough trial of their religion, to see whether it would stand the test. 1 Corinthians 3:13. The proof of their piety was to be arrived at by a faithful examination of their own hearts and lives; by a diligent comparison of their views and feelings with the word of God; and especially by making trial of it in life. The best way to prove our piety is to subject it to actual trial in the various duties and responsibilities of life. A man who wishes to prove an axe, to see whether it is good or not, does not sit down and look at it, or read all the treatises which he can find on axe-making, and on the properties of iron and steel, valuable as such information would be; but he shoulders his axe, and goes into the woods, and puts it to the trial there. If it cuts well; if it does not break; if it is not soon made dull, he understands the quality of his axe better than he could in any other way. So if a man wishes to know what his religion is worth, let him try it in the places where religion is of any value. Let him go into the world with it. Let him go and try to do good; to endure affliction in a proper manner; to combat the errors and follies of life; to admonish sinners of the error of their ways; and to urge forward the great work of the conversion of the world, and he will soon see there what his religion is worth-as easily as a man can test the qualities of an axe. Let him not merely sit down and think, and compare himself with the Bible, and look at his own heart-valuable as this may be in many respects; but let him treat his religion as he would anything else-let him subject it to actual experiment. That religion which will enable a man to imitate the example of Paul, or Howard, or the great Master himself, in doing good, is genuine. That religion which will enable a man to endure persecution for the name of Jesus; to bear calamity without murmuring; to submit to a long series of disappointments and distresses for Christ's sake, is genuine. That religion which will prompt a man unceasingly to a life of prayer and self-denial; which will make him ever conscientious, industrious, and honest; which will enable him to warn sinners of the error of their ways, and which will dispose him to seek the friendship of Christians, and the salvation of
