A month ago my purse was stolen. Inside was my social security card, as well as my 4 year old daughters card, and my 1 year old son's card. What can I do? How can I find out if someone is using theirs? Are there any preventive measures I can take?

  1. call the social security office ,,,,they will assist you

  2. Did you file a police report?

You can get a copy of your credit report from the 3 credit reporting bureaus (TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian) and see if any new accounts were open.  You can get a free copy of your credit report from http://www.annualcreditreport.com

  3. well you wll need replacement cards so go to us govt  social securety and it will give you instructions to get replacement cards!!! i would keep an eye on my credit report for a few months to insure there were no strange entries!!!

  4. Go in person to the closest social security office in your city and fill out papers for a lost/stolen social security card.

Go to the police department and file a stolen personal property report.  This will cover you if someone decides to use your ID for something illegal.
