Question:

Solvent Based Pigment Fineliner Pens?

I'm trying to find colored pens - preferably fineliners - for use on painted metal miniatures (28mm size). I have a black Staedtler pigment liner which works quite well but the pack of Staedtler Triplus fineliners are useless because they dissolve on contact with water -or saliva to be more specific!

Can anyone tell me where I can buy them? after an hour and a half trawling through Google I'm not sure they even exist but they would be incredibly useful if they do.

  1. Possibly Ranger's Adirondack pens. These have a pigment and resin ink that works on most substrates but as they say they can be heat fixed by ironing they may not be permanent enough for your miniatures and the nib is a bit thicker than a fineliner. You should find them in craft shops for card makers or they will be able to order them for you. The colour range doesn't have primary colours.

The Staedtler pigment liner is a drawing pen which come in black only. The only exception I know of is Pilot's DR drawing pen which comes in sepia in tip sizes 01, 02, 03, 05 and 08. giving stroke widths of 0.28mm to 0.8mm.

  2. You might want these paint pens:
