  1. For the second question

    (Assuming that the point for this question is to find what D equals.)

    D divided by 2 1/8 = 2 1/3

    Make the 2 1/8 an improper fraction.

    2 1/8 = 17/8

    D divided by 17/8 = 2 1/3

    You have to get rid of the denominator on the left side because you have to get D alone.

    To get rid of the denominator, multiply both sides by 17/8 (or 17/8 over 1, which would still be 17/8.)

    17/8 over 1 x D over 17/8 = 2 1/3 x 17/8

    The answer will be

    D = 119/24

    or

    D = 4.9583

    Hope this helps!

  2. You need to convert any mixed numbers into improper fractions, so 2 and 6/7 needs to be changed to 20/7.

    The rule for dividing fractions is that you flip the second fraction and multiply it. So now your question is (20/7) * (3/1)=60/7=8 4/7

    Despite your additions, I still can't really understand your second question.
