  1. Being a Marine is far more then just the uniform, war, or way of life.  Its brotherhood, you learn how to take care of yourself and others as well. its way of life, you don't feel empty, because you've accomplished so much that others might not.  good luck in the Corps.

  2. See if the recruiter can arrange for some vet Marines to come to the office and you can talk to them. I used to be a Marine recruiter and we did that all the time when we had a big group of enlistees. If they can do that, make sure you ask them real questions....no bulls*^t! They won't have time for the "How much do you get paid" or How many people did you kill" c**p. Honestly, you're gonna hate Boot Camp and MCT. If you go Infantry, you're gonna hate it for about 6-8 months. If you get stationed somewhere like 29 Palms, you're gonna hate it. PLEASE make sure you get a job(MOS) that you want and not pick something just because it sounds cool....cool can get ya killed.

  3. well my dad always tells me that you should choose air force out of the army and marines! because there are lots of ugly(i mean personality) people in the army and marines! like not Christians and trying to get you to do drugs in stuff! the air force is the cleanest because they are always on your back! I recommend the air force!

  4. First off, I am not an expert, but I have grown up around marines, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

You will never meet a more loyal, hardnosed, professional bunch then the USMC. I would take a company of them against a battalion of any other force on the planet.

Now, while it is true that "every marine is a rifleman", that does not always mean you will be on the front line. For every infantryman, there are about 3 people in supprot roles; mechanics, air crews, quartermasters, cooks, drivers, you name it. So, the chances of getting killed or injured will greatly depend on what your MOS is. I would note, however, if you are in the infantry, you will have some of the worlds best body armor to protect you, which greatly improves your chances of surviving on the battlefield.

If I were you, I would check with the recruiter and see if you can get a delayed entry and lock in the MOS you want. Usually, you pick 3 and they then select which of those three you get, depending on their force requirements.

Boot camp will be a challenge. Try to get in shape well before you get their. Don't take anything a drill instructor says to you personally. Their job is to break you of all your civilian habits and conceptions and make you into a marine. Just listen and learn. Those guys know what they are doing.

All the best and good luck.
