Every day, I find a squash blossom from my zucchini plant has been "cut off" at the base where the stem and the blossom meet. Who is the culprit and how do I stop it?

  1. No this is common it is not an insect..the male flowers on a squash start opening up about 2 weeks before the females  do..The blooms on the long stems are male flowers..the females then appear later coming directly out of a main stem, and not the long skinny stems that you are talking about..This is normal the male flowers bloom and fall off within a day..I will post this then get you some pictures..

This is a female..coming from a main stem..you will see a little squash right behind it ...

The second picture here is a male flower..they should fall off every day..

  2. A Worm.

There is a real good modern day pesticide that is safe...but I can't remember the brand name. The active ingredient is an anti-biotic....called "baccilis theringensis" . That is not the correct spelling...but close enough for you to find it. It carries a "level 1 caution" label. That means a mammal can eat it with no ill effects. It usually comes in a wettable powder. You can treat and harvest on the same day.
