Sony Memory Sticks?

When I bought my Sony DSC W55 camera, I has given a MSX-M2GS/X Pro DuoStick. Having purchased a new memory stick, I was given a MSX-M2GST/X. Is this still suitable for my camera?

As long as it is a Pro Duo, it should work with your camera.  

For future reference: although you can order MemorySticks online, it is best to purchase them in store.  The majority of MemorySticks found online (especially from private sellers, such as eBay members) are counterfeit, meaning you'll often end up with a different brand passed off as Sony/MagicGate, or you'll be given a 1GB stick when you've paid for a 4GB, etc.  

It is often hard to tell the difference between the real and fake MemorySticks, because the counterfeiters can use a special printer and ink to make the cards/adapters appear the same, and are also able to make your computer think they are a larger size than they really are (for example, when you connect the card to your computer, it may display ~4GB free, but it may only be able to hold 1GB).

I know that was somewhat long winded, but I just hope to inform others so that they don't end up paying a lot for a fake MemoryStick that doesn't work - it happened to me, and it's not fun.

but I think your camera is only compatible with the Pro Duo Stick

it dosnt matter about any bar code or number, if it's the right type it will work. you can purchase any memory stick duo as long as the capacity is not over the recognised amount on the camera.

some camera's have a max of 2GB. so if you buy a memorystick  with more then that the camera wont be able to use it.

i just buy them off ebay, there so much cheaper!!

and it dosnt matter if it's a diffrent company make from your camera, if it's a Memory stick duo it will work.

What does it say in your manual???? The main reason I hate Sony is because they can't be like everyone else and just use SD or HCSD cards.
