Sony Viao Display Problem

Question

My Sony PCG-8J2M laptop has got a strange problem. Display is playing up and initially you could see everything but picture was blurred and now you can't read anything as all you see is various patterns on the display. Sometime it comes to normal but most of the time it is messed up picture. I thought may be display cable or screen has gone but when attached an external monitor the same problem is on the monitor too. Plzzz help. Many thanks.
