Question:

Sony a200k d-slr camera?

I'm looking for a d-slr camera in the $499-higher $500 range, and I came across the sony a 200k.

I'm not exactly sure if it's worth the purchase or I should just consider another camera. Anyone have any suggestions (for another camera if you don't agree with the potential purchase) or opinions of this camera.

Thanks

  1. LIve view lets you take a photo by looking at the screen other than looking into the view finder. To me this is almost worthless as the way you have to hold the camera to take a picture with "live view" makes it unstable.

Sony cameras are great for everything other than low light shots. It sounds like you will not be doing any low light so this camera would work out nice for you. The a200 is a good camera it's a lot better than the a100.

If you're going to be making a portolio you're going to need a lighting setup or you're going to have a hard time taking any good indoor shots.

I would budget 150 bucks for this.

Get a used nikon flash off ebay

Then buy a off camera flash trigger

    Then buy a flash shoe.

Then buy a stand with a umbrella and stand for th flash.

  2. I don't have this camera but i am thinking of getting one as well

but don't get the 200k get the 300k

you get a lot more features like a tilt-able screen and live view

live view is were you can look through the screen instead of the view finder if you want to

here is a site on the 300k

    http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sony-alph...

    it is $599

    hope you get it

i think sony  has much more to offer for the money than canon or nikon

  3. I own a Nikon 40D and it's great. Comes with a Nikon lens that's sharp and a battery that's will give you at least 300 pictures per charge. It's easy to use and light to carry around and is about $450.00 Go to www.kenrockwell.com and read his reports.
