Question:

Sore throat in the morning...!

I'm 16 and I've had M.E./Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for the past year and 8 months (and counting!!) I always have a sore throat when I wake up in the morning, but within a hour or so of being up it doesn't hurt anymore. It has been this way since Christmas! Around the beginning of May I had a throat infection and ever since then my throat often feels like it's "clogged up", so I have to try to clear it a lot but that doesn't really get rid of the feeling.

Any ideas what this could be? It's driving me crazy and I've spent enough time since I've been ill with ME/CFS at the doctors/at hospitals so I don't particarly like the idea of spending even more time with doctors... Help would be very much appreciated.

  1. Try a cool mist vaporizer. You made be needing more moisture in your room at night. Does anybody in the house complain about your snoring? If so it could be from Sleep Apnea. After I was diagnosed and got my CPAP machine I sleep like the proverbial baby. You'll have to undergo a sleep study. They hook you up to computer and see how many times (if any) you stop breathing. Sleep Apnea is a condition that most of the population have but haven't made the connection.

    Good luck

  2. Post Nasal drip is usually the most common reason for sore throats in the morning. It can be triggered from allergies or a cold really.

My friend also had that issue and went to the doctor he told her it's post nasal drip.

  3. as soon as you get up drink water and/or take a cough drop
