Sound from DVDs

Question

I have a samsung home theater. I have followed the directions for connecting the video input/output to the home theater and my tv.
I attempted to play a DVD. I can see the scenes, and can hear background music for each scene--but I cannot hear the actors speaking.
I can hear their voices slightly, but hardly. How do I improve the sound of the actors voices.
