Mississippi or Alabama have the deepest drawls I think.  Tennessee is pretty "drawl-y" in some places too :)  Out of your options, Georgia.  (I've lived in LA, and it's not that southern sounding, or rather, a different type of southern)

EDIT:  I'm from Southeast LA too (Plaquemines)!

  10. I'm from southeast Louisiana.     Why do you want to know this info?  my guess to your question, would be French or German names ending in a vowel sound, E, O, U...  I gonna have to spell 'em out for you.  LOL  Apostrophees are used on many of the names; last names are first names and first names are last names; depends on what part of the state you're in.  Parish is the French word for County.  Most names from the Holy Bible are uised here, such as Mary, Joseph, John, Charles, ect.  ANY Saint name is used in this area, like Christopher, Ann, Anne, Nicholas, Henry, Margaret (Peggy, n/n), William, etc.

Cities, streets, towns, and some states were named after people.  Search on a map for the little towns.

In Georgia, Savannah is a southern female name!

    Thibodeaux  (tib.. {short} i.. doe (female deer})

    Boudreaux    (boo.  dro)

    Marie            (mah ree)

    Pierre'            (pe air)

    Harvey           (har vah)

    Pe'dro            (pay dro)

Robicheaux    (ro bi {short i} show)

The thickest drawal is probably Georgia; but I'm gonna vote for Louisiana's natives!

It depends where you're from in a state....

I think Louisiana would have the biggest drawl. It would also help to have a French surname because of the big influence there. As for the girls names, you can tack on an Ann, beth, Sue, Jo, or the likes (Abigail Jo, Daisy Sue, Sara Beth, etc)

  12. I am from West Virginia and have a very pronounced accent even after years in Florida. The first time I went to So.Carolina on vacation and asked for directions, we couldn't understand each other. The ladies accent was totally different than mine but VERY pronounced.

I grew up with lots of kids who's names would only be heard in the South.
