Is there alot of Soya in Chinese Food. And normally, what kind of oil do they cook their food in.

  1. Chinese food depends on the use of soy sauce in several applications (flavoring, marinades, sauces, dressings....).

    Most Chinese food is cooked using peanut oil but due to allergy issues some restaurants may use other oils.  You can always inquire.


  2. As far as i'm concerned the black soy sauce is a must in chinese food. It's put on the table so people can add it to their dishes at discretion. Also "tofu" (soy meat based) is popular in chinese gastronomy.

  3. the main essential ingredient in Chinese cooking is the soya sauce ,, but there is no soy bean in sight as soya sauce is the by-product of soya bean, salt and sugar..

    so if you take it asthe question of "Is there a trace of soya presence in all chinese cooking?" .. I think the answer is yes!

    as for oil , there are basically two type of oil.. one for stir frying or deep frying .. and the one used for seasoning...

    oil use in stir frying and deep frying: Peanut oil, any type of vegetable oil... in olden days .. pork fat are used ...

    oil for seasoning: roasted sesame oil , garlic oil, onion oil and chili oil.

  4. Well depends on the food. But I reckon in chinese food Salty Soya sauce is often used. There are 2 kinds of soya sauce, you know: sweet soya n salty soya. The oil is usually normal vegetable oil. Olive oil is not used often.
