Luciano Spalletti has told Spartak Moscow’s manager to think twice before pointing fingers at Zenit St. Petersburg’s transfer policy after reminding him Konstantin Sarsania’s comments
Luciano Spalletti has fired a barb at Spartak Moscow’s Valery Karpin, reminding the former Real Sociedad man that he holds no right to discuss and question Zenit St. Petersburg’s transfer policy.
The 53-year-old coach hit back at Karpin after the newly appointed Spartak manager questioned the St. Petersburg club’s decision to invest 100 million Euros to sign Hulk and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SL-Benfica-c40542 respectively.
The defending Russian Premier League champions made http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hulk-c16436 the highest paid player in the history of the club after signing a three-year contract with the Brazilian striker, who has scored just once since leaving Stadio da Luz this
summer.
Konstantin Sarsania, who worked as Sporting director at Luzhniki before becoming FC Fakel Voronezh’s president, had publically criticized Spartak’s transfer policy after illustrating the rough figures of the club’s investment over
the past decade.
“Can you imagine they have signed 29 players and spent in the excess of 97 million Euros in just four years? They could have made three teams. It means they paid more than three million for each player.” Sarsania had said.
Spalletti warned Karpin, who recently became the Red-Whites manager after replacing Unai Emery at Luzhniki stadium, to avoid making such comments in the near future by reminding him of how much the Moscow-based club spent over
the course of last ten years.
“I heard that Karpin said he does not want his club to make similar mistakes such as Zenit. I think that he is afraid of Zenit. Not long ago, I read in the newspaper that Spartak invested 100 million Euros in player transfer and
about 15 of them left them earlier than expected. I think Karpin should not talk about us.” The former AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 coach was quoted as saying.
Spalletti went on to defend the St. Petersburg club’s transfer policy, saying that the Meshki have signed expensive yet amazing players and assured the fans of meeting their expectations in the near future.
