Special Education Teacher Courses??

Does anyone know a website online that offers courses for becoming a special education teacher????

You can contact the state department of education in the state where you live which issues teacher credentials.  You can also contact state universities in your state.  Since I do not know what state you live in or where you wish to go to school, you will need to include that information or go directly to those sources.

It is going to be very hard for you to get a teaching certification online. There are many universities that offer online courses, but most of them are Master's level. This is due to the fact that most Ed degrees require student teaching. Also, now you must be "highly qualified" to teach any subject in special education. The only time this would not be the case is if you decide to teach Pre-K or moderately mentally retarded children.

Your best bet would be to go to a school that has the special ed teaching program and get your undergrad. They will make sure that you come out with a degree that you can use.

If you currently have a Bachelor's degree of any kind, you may be able to teach some special education classes while you get the required coursework. This is a high needs area, so check with the school districts around you to see if that is the case.
