Specific pipe tobacco smell. Help! Please!?

As a kid I used to LOVE the smell of pipe tobacco. I cant explain the smell, but I can say that I will never forget it. I Have been smoking a pipe for about 3 years and have tried many different types of tobacco and have yet to find anything close. So basically I am just curious if anyone has any idea of a very popular pipe tobacco in the 90's that could be a possible match. From what I can remember most of the people I was around that were smoking a pipe seemed to be smoking similar tobacco. The closest thing I have come to was walking in a friends house and smelling an incense that was decently close in smell. It did not have a real name like a fruit or anything, so it didn't help. If anyone has any tips or recommendations it would be very helpful and appreciated.

Hard to say, the person smoking the pipe does not get the same smell as the other people in the room.  Chances are it was an aromatic pipe tobacco, possibly captain black, or borkum riff.  Those are popular "drug store" pipe tobaccos.
