Speeding Ticket in Ohio...?

I traveled to Cleveland last Friday, and got a speeding ticket for going 76 in 65 mile zone. I live in maryland, and do not wish to drive 6 hours back to Cleveland to appear in court. I called the court, and they said the ticket is 170 dollars and i get two points. I want the points removed, and already sent them a letter stating my reasons. Is there any other way that I can remove my points, pay the ticket, and get over it? Someone said that if i don't contest the ticket, and just pay the ticket, I don't get the points on my driving record, is this true?

I am sorry to say that by paying the ticket, it only avoids you a trip to court. Paying a ticket is an admission of guilt. Ohio and Maryland are reciprocal states, which means Ohio is going to report the violation and you will still be assessed the points on your license.

Best and only advice would be to retain a good attorney to fight the ticket, but realistically, it is your word against the Officer and the cost of both the lawyer and the trip out of state just isnt feasible.

no you did exactly what you were supposed to. paying the ticket does not remove the points, petitioning the courts can remove the points and since you can't be there, the letter was your best option.
