Well im almost 25 weeks and loooove spicy food. One of the things i crave the most. But everytime i go to eat something spicy someone always says "i wouldnt do that if i were you." Well it got me thinking. I thought the only reason that pregnant woman arent supposed to eat spicy food is because of heartburn and such. Is that the only reason or is there some "medical reasoning" on it doing harm to my lil one?

  1. heartburn and hemorrhoids. :) i still eat spicy foods then drink lots of water after. it annoys me when people think they know better and tell me what to eat and what not to eat. especially those that haven't been pregnant. a little bit of everything wouldn't hurt us.

  2. i believe that is the only reason.  in my culture spicy food is the norm.

  3. Heartburn is the only reason that I know of.

  4. From experience you definetly will get heartburn ! Just keep some Tums handy. But other then that i have heard when your close to the end of your pregnancy spicy foods can help put you into labor. Dont know how true it is but thats what i heard...

  5. Its ok to eat a lil bit but not too much, your baby might not like it.

  6. I'm 14 weeks and all i want to eat is spicy food!! flaming hot cheetos and curry are my saviors!! i told my midwife this and she said i was having a boy because of that, do you know what you're having?

  7. Yes, that's the only reason not to eat spicy foods, cause it gives you heartburn. I love spicy food too and that's what i crave that most too, but i do get heartburn if i have spicy food. If you are not suffering from heartburn when you eat spicy food go for it and enjoy.

  8. it wont do harm to the baby you have cravings so endulge in them .By the way congrats on having a baby

  9. It's a myth that spicy foods will start labor. I was eating a spicy chicken sandwich from checkers the other day and one of my co workers said, "you shouldn't eat spicy foods so early in your pregancy...it will cause pre term labor!" I just laughed at her cause I knew better and there was no way I was going to throw away that yummy sandwich. Trust me, I am a nurse and I love mexican food too....just don't like the heartburn :)

  10. i crave it too i never knew it could be bad whoops
