Question:

Spiritually Speaking, Kitten Names...?

And yes, this does belong in R&S, even though I'm sure Y!A will attempt to put this in LGBT. As per usual. Anyways, I'm inheriting four kittens this upcoming weekend, and I've decided I want to name them after Nordic gods and goddesses. Can I please get some ideas?

  2. You do realize that just about all questions that start with "Spiritually speaking..." get reported, right?

  3. I don't know about Nordic, but Eris is a good name. Just expect her to act a little. . . . crazy.

  4. I would need to see the cats and understand their personalities before I suggest names, it all comes down to what the cat is like

  5. Odin (Wodan, Wotan)

    Thor (Donnar)

    Freya

    Freyr

    Tyr (Tiw, Ziw)

    Loki

    Heimdall

    Skadi

    Frigga (Frigg)

Urd, Verdande, and Skuld (The 3 Fates)

Hel (Holle, Hulda) (Goddess of the dead and afterlife)

    Baldur (Odin's son)

    Sif (Sifa) (Harvest goddess)

    Forseti (Law & Justice God)

    Bragi (muse of Poetry)

Weiland (Weyland) (Smith of the Gods)

Idunna (goddess of Youth and Beauty)

Vidar and Vali (the sons of Odin who will survive Ragnarok)

Magni and Modi (the sons of Thor)

Eostre (the goddess of Spring and of fertility)

Hoenir (the messenger of the Aesir)

Sunna and Mani ( the Sun and Moon)

Ullr (the God of the Hunt)

Nerthus (Goddess of the Sea and of Rivers)

Then of course there was Sleipnir, Odins horse

  6. The most mischievous should be named Loki and the dominate male Odin .

Fireball get back on your meds please .

  7. Thor (m), Frigg (f), Bil(f), Borr (m), Odin (m), Freya (f), Magni(m), Jord(f).

The f and m are for male and female.

  8. thor

    loki

    tyr

    sif

    odin

    heimdal

  9. Try Mythology and Folklore, too.  They have good ideas over there as well.

  10. Well other then the regular responses of Loki & Thor, there is Vara, Tiwaz, Mani, Frija, Nott, Kadi, Troll and many others.

  11. You have a lot of options:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norse_gods

You are going to need a lot more kittens if you want the full set.  LOL

Knowing kittens, one of them is going to end up a Loki.  Hel, you might have to have a Loki I, Loki II, Loki III and Loki IV.

    Enjoy your new family.

  12. Mani- God of the moon

Loki- God of mischeif and trickery, probably best name for a cat ever.

    Nott- Goddes of night

Verdandi- One of the 3 goddesses of fate, called Norns

I gave 2 boy and 2 girl names, if they're 3 girls and 1 boy cat then feel free to e-mail me, I'll give ya some more ^_^

  13. Thor

  14. Loki  -"trickster" god

(Seems appropriate for a cat, lol.)

  15. miranda

    molly

    gretchen

    doug

  16. You should name one "Chairman Meow"

  17. I've always liked Loki and Frigg.

Balder (Baldr or Baldur) is nice too (son of Odin and Frigga).

And not a god or goddess, but the battlefield "werewolves" called Berserkers.

Sindri and Brokk - they were elf-smiths in Norse myth.

Then there is always Hor and Volva if you want to get adventurous :)

  18. We named our cat Hades (different pantheon) and we had Loki and Freya in the past, Nordic gods make good pet names. Tyr, Freyr, Nanna, Baldur, Ran, Iduna, Fulla, and Gerd.

Although with 4 kittens you'd probably be better suited to go with names cross pantheon like Abbaddon (the destroyer), Loki (the Trickster), Shiva (the Destroyer), Mephistopheles (he who shuns the Light), Apollyon (the Archfiend), Bast (the Cat Goddess), Lilith (the Corrupter).

Cats all deserve fun names... and with 4 kittens they really all should have names regarding destruction or chaos or something similar heheh.

Oh and get them spayed or neutered ASAP, as young as your vet will do them (they also give bulk discounts!)  If you get them before the females go into heat the first time and the males very early they will *NEVER SPRAY* and your house will never smell like cat p**s.  Very important that.
