Stain remover please?

Is there a way to get sweat stains out of an off white shirt.

I my experience, I've had good luck with soaking, (1/2 hour or so), the underarm stains in a small bowl/container of vinegar. Rinse well and gently hand wash with a little laundry soap to see if the stain is gone (if it doesn't come out, don't dry, you'll just set the stain worse). If that doesn't work, try the same thing using ammonia. When stain comes out - go ahead and wash as usual.

My son had many of these stains and one or the other always worked for me, it's even listed in my stain removal guide in my washing machine's manual.

Bleach is the best way. You can rub a mixture of baking soda and vinegar into stain and this will work sometimes.

Step Away from the Bleach!

Although it’s counterintuitive, chlorine bleach is one of the worst things you can use to treat perspiration stains, even on white cotton fabric. The chlorine in household bleach will react with the proteins in the perspiration and cause the remaining stain to darken even further. You thought the pale yellow stains gave you pause – just wait until your collar and underarms are almost mustard in color!

Stain Removal Option #1 – Start Simple with Detergent

There are so many great liquid laundry detergents on the market today that specialize in treating tough protein stains; the simplest first step in removing perspiration stains is to use liquid laundry detergent. We recommend using one that’s labeled as having oxygenated powers or concentrating in protein-based stains such as food and grass stains. Treat the affected area with full-strength liquid laundry detergent and let sit for 30 minutes. Launder as usual and air dry.

I would normally recommend the #7 formula of Carbona Stain Devils but they have recently changed the #7 formula to an oily stain remover. If your grocery store still has the #7 formula that is for urine stains etc. that is what I highly recommend. Otherwise try zout stain remover. Add a bit of laundry soap, lemon juice, and salt then scrub with a toothbrush. Also if you have any cleaning formulas for pet urine, even if it's a carpet cleaner, try that. Urine stains and sweat stains are very similar. The answer under mine is also a good one. Just be sure to use white vinegar.
