Starting 8th Grade Tomorrow

Question

I am so nervous because I am starting 8th grade tomorrow! Does anyone have any tips? And also, does this schedual seem to hard? I still want to enjoy myself and have time for soccer and friends...

period 1- writing

2- Honors Geo/Trig

3- Spanish

4- Lunch

5- Advanced Social Studies (don't ask)

6- Science

7- Advanced Band

8- Advanced Reading

Wow you start school early I dont start till September 4th. No that doesn't seem hard its only middle school. I didn't know Advanced band existed...

Your classes seem fine- geometry/trig isn't easy but if you've done Algebra 1 you're good- and the rest is chill. 8th grade isn't any different than 7th, except that you're at the top of the middle school food chain. If you're not changing schools, you have nothing to be nervous about because you're at the same place you've been.

umm wow what state u from cuz its looks so different but i guess the classes are shorter but no worries u should have plenty of time for soccer and friends my tip to u is that if there is homework for geo/trig and spanish i would do some at lunch

It was pretty easy too.

Pretty much Grades 1-10 are easy.

Im going into 9th grade, and the first day of 8th grade was easy for me..  At least your have something easy for period 1. Just take it one period at a time, and look forward to something you enjoy doing that day, like lunch... Then you can talk to your friends and just see what they say and just relax.  And wow your school starts early!  Well Good Luck!!  :)

The writing class is easy, geometry and trigonometry needs some work but it's nothing difficult. Spanish is easy too. Advanced social studies may be a bit hard but not that hard. if you study and work you wont have any problem. Science is a piece of cake! and the band and reading are really fun classes!

So dont worry AT ALL! i hope you have a great school year! Enjoy you're last year in middle school!

And hope that i have a good school year too. Im going to grade 10 and this is my first year in America! im pretty nervous! but you'll be just fine!

You have some really good classes, they seem a little hard, but since you got in to them they shouldnt be too much to handle. i was in 8th grade last year, i actually really hated it, but not because it was hard. you have nothing to worry about, i just cant believe you start school agust 6, thats sooo early. i start sept. 3 and i think thats too early.

I just got done with 8th. I'm going to be a freshmen in one week. And, I had honors Language Arts (English), and I loved all my classes (same amount as you.) But you have to be careful, because you WILL get A LOT of homework. Especially from all of your honors classes. Sometimes you have so much, you go home, do your homework, and then there's no more time for anything else. So you kind of have to balance your studies, and fun. But don't sweat it, probably the best year of my life.

if you picked those classes then clearly you should be able to do well in them. :)  don't worry 8th grade is so much fun, you wont even be worrying about your classes most of the time, lol.  now I'm not saying dint do your homework or anything cuz if you dint you'll regret it later, lol.  but dont worry, just be yourself and enjoy the classes you chose to take.

okay well i started 8th last year myself. i had just moved. thought the schedule would be tough. honestly after the 1st 2 days it is really easy. it is almost like it comes natural to you. and of course you will have time for soccer and friends..just follow the rules and stuff and it will all work out. i promise. good luck and just have fun. :]

well it is natural to be nervous it is the first day and everyone will be nervous so just think we are all nervous everyone is nervous so and i bet that there will be someone shaking so hard they have to go home ok hope i helped !

I am starting the 8th grade soon also. I am in a lot of advanced (gifted) classes as you are. This schedule doesn't seem too hard (compared to mine) just don't be nervous or you will become stressed and band can be annoying and difficult sometimes (I play percussion) so I would ask for regular band. too many kids asking pointless middle school questions.  colleges dont care about middle school and you wouldnt be freaking out about school if you didnt want to go to college...  re-freakin-lax , trust me :)

Its hard only if you really work. I can have 10 subjects but not do them and it would be easy, but i would fail. What you have it a typical plan except for the advanced subjects. Just as long as you study good and finish your homework/schoolwork you'll be fine. Also, you'll probably have 4-6 hours everyday for your friend. Lunch time and afternoon. Try to work around your soccer practice. Like after school, work for an hour, go do whatever it is you do with your friends for an hour, come back and so on. Depends on the time it is for you. Ah.. enjoy 8th grade. Once its 11-12th grade ( i'm 12th ) its h**l. You'll have to take so many subjects and the Sat, ACT, AP courses, PSAT. AAAAH!... Anyways....

Don't be nervous. 8th grade was probably the best year in my entire school career so far! The work is a little harder; and it'll be even harder for you, (just look at that schedule!) but if you signed up for those classes then you must be able to handle it. The only piece of advice I can give you is: BE YOURSELF. I know you probably hear that from everyone, but its SO TRUE. You will get the right set of friends if you do. Have a great time in 8th grade and good luck!

Keep your eyes and ears open. Dont think anyone is cool. Your the coolest one. Dont act like other people. Most of them wont be the same when you see them in highschool. Just keep all of your thoughts on your future success.

I was in the 8th grade last year. It was the best year of school for me, and the fastest. If your Middle School is like most (7th-8th or 6th-7th-8th), then your top dog! You get to be oldest, and put an influence on the younger kids (if not pick on them a little bit {; ). So don't fret my dear. It will be fine. Just scedual your times, and do your homework and you should be fine.

P.S. Band is the best when you are that old. You get a lot more freedom, and funner songs.

well i am starting 8th grade too and i am nervous because i am getting all new teachers because last year a lot either moved retired or got fired and yes that schedule does seem a little hard but you can through it just think positive and you will be fine and dont be nervous and take your time with things you will get used to the idea of being in the 8th grade

Get a good night sleep tonight and don't stress....This isn't the first time you have started school.  As for your classes, you would not be in advanced classes if your counsler did not believe you could handle it!!!!  Have  a Great Day at school!!!!

no it doesn't seem tough bc i have advanced bio advanced biio also comes with another class, bio lab, advanced algebra and advanced art. as for tips, just keep smiling, it only gets better from there!

You are in a lot of tough classes.  It's hard but doable.  I honestly don't know how you can still have time for soccer and friends with all the homework they'll probably pile on.  I'm not trying to freak you out or anything, but when I took Honors/AP courses in high school, they were a lot tougher than I expected.  Maybe you could drop one and have only 3 advanced courses instead of 4.  Are a lot of your friends in the same classes?  That will be a big help.  GOod luck!  Don't worry about the first day of school.  It will be fine and you'll figure everything out. :)

wow. i'm in the 11th grade and i'm just now taking geometry.

but it doesn't seem too hard, just stay focused and organized. if you think you're slipping just stay after class for a little extra help...it's not embarrassing and it's worth it to understand better. we weren't allowed to take spanish until my 10th grade year...but it wasn't hard. everything else seems like a piece of cake. have fun and make it a great year! if you ever think you can't handle the classes...just take time to think about how good it will be in the long run. i always sign up for tough classes because i find them worth taking.

make sure you don't get too caught up with sports and classes, balance your time wisely. eighth grade was a great year for me, hope yours is as well!

I would say read a little everyday.  Research everything on the computer to get many perspectives.  Try not to be nervous.  Go to dictionary.com and get WOD for spanish and On this day.  Pace yourself.  Don't over cram and use all the time on the weekend to keep up.  Don't get a parttime job.  Try to stay rested but focused.  Thats my advice.  Hope I helped.
