I'm already a designer but lack the business skill set to really succeed. I'd like to start a stationery design business, but am not sure how to really get it off the ground and organize myself.

  1. You should start small and price your services very competitively.  You have a very niche service and you need to focus on what you do best.  I'm sure you have a lot of experience, so talk to some existing clients from design and ask them to refer you to other people.  It's also good to have a portfolio of your design.  Remember to just do baby steps.  Start out by making sure that all your business paper work is set up, taxes, financials, etc before you start looking for clients, then once that's all set up try to look for clients.  Other small businesses are a good place start out with and network for your services.

  2. You need a business plan and model. How you intend to compete, a marketing plan etc....
