  1. work on your passing skills and also tackling is very important, but that can be picked up at practice. A lot of rugby is also in the mind, you need to be confident and not hesitant, because if you play half-hearted you are more likely to get hurt, especially if you play in the front row.

  2. Find local team...even go along now as most games are autum/winter/spring time, and enjoy..yes learn the basics..but depnds on your leel of intrest..if its more social rugby, the odd game and the friendship of others it can be just a great laugh

  3. Get fit and prepare for lots of bumps and bruises.

  4. The biggest thing is to get in good physical shape.  Rugby requires a ton of running and it is vital for you to well conditioned.  Passing is second and throw the ball around with your buddy as much as you can.  Talk to one of the guys on the team and have them help you pass at least for a bit so you can continue to practice on your own.  Rugby is a ton of fun, so enjoy.

  5. start learning how to pass the ball with some spin from the wrist. Learn the rules by watching games on the tele as the rules can be very complicated at times.

    good luck
