Question:

Steak & Shake?

So, they are building a new resturaunt in my area, A Steak & Shake. I've never heard of them, but I am willing to go in with an open mind.

I usually do not frequent large chain resturants, not because I have any anti-commercialism issues but because I prefer to support locally owned businesses, but I have been known to spend a happy hour at the bar at Chili's or TGI Friday's.

So what does anyone know about them? Food? Atmosphere? SERVICE?? (That's the stickler...)

Anyone like them? Love them? Hate them? Let me know...

  1. I thought the burgers were OKAY

but the fries were the skinniest EVER and SO GOOOD

go for a coke and fries sometime... i wouldnt reccomend the burgers though

  2. It's alright.  Kinda pricey because their burgers are made of ground steak meat, instead of chuck or whatever most burger places use.  You really can't taste much of a difference, but they do have other stuff on the menu if you don't want the burger.   They are also very THIN burgers so if you do order one, order a double or you'll be mad!   Their shakes are the best thing they have going for them if you ask me.

  3. It's decent, but I don't drop everything and run to Steak n' Shake.

They always send out coupons for meal deals, so you might want to wait until you get those in the mail before trying it.

Be prepared for gastrointestinal problems after eating there if you catch my drift.

Cleanliness is so-so, one restaurant in our area is spotless, the other has toilets that are always overflowing (not a pretty picture).  Service is similar to most diners; so is the atmosphere.

You can view their menu:  http://www.steaknshake.com/menu/menu.asp...

I usually get the platter with chili and fries.  They have a good chicken melt and a good Frisco melt.  Be sure to get a side of cheese sauce for your fries.  All of their milkshakes are good.

  4. It is not a place that I will go out of my way to go to. However, if I am that hungry and I happen to be in the area, I will definitely drop in and get me a bite.

  5. The fries are very good. Everything else is so so. Expensive for a fast food chain. Atmosphere and sevice is average. If you eat inside, you get a server, unlike most fast food. The burgers are pretty good, but you don't get much for you dollar.

  6. I like the food there pretty much, but it is expensive for what you get. The Frisco Melt is yummy, the fries are super skinny and very good, the shakes are delish!!! The coupons in the local paper help out cost-wise, and we only go there once in a while.

  7. i havenlt tried them but i;ve heard good things from my friends.

  8. Burgers, and they were expensive. I went their one time and never went back.

  9. Steak and Shake is a fast food resturant......mostly hamburgers, fries, onion rings, great shakes, good ice cream.  In Alabama they also had a variety of salads, soups, sandwiches along with spagetti chili.  Service depends on the kids they hire.  Usually ok......not a fine dining experience by any means, but good for before or after a movie.
