Stepparent adoption can there be stipulations?

Such as if something happens to son can the child be sent to live with grand-parents,or if the couple divorce the child be sent

back to the father with no custody fighting.Lawyer says stipulations can be added,but I want to know if anyone else has gone through this?

There can be stipulations, but they are completely voluntary on the part of the a-parents because they will not be enforced. It is no different from open adoption.  If the a-parents decide to close it for any reason, they can and there is nothing the biological parent can do about it because NONE of the courts will enforce it.

Adoption is legally the full and permanent transfer of all parental rights and responsibilities from one parent (or set of parents) to another.

Stipulations would be for custody agreements, I should think, not adoption.

Why go through the hassle of adopting if the child would not remain with the adoptive parent? If it is the natural father that wants these stipulations, he should never agree to an adoption.
