No problem with not eating meat, eggs, and I never did eat honey - but the dairy. I live in the crappiest place in the whole world which have the stupidest grocery stores who dont sell anything of use to me. (Small section of produce, tons of meat and dairy though) There is no vegetarian section either soo.. The only thing I can buy is soymilk, but not even tofu!! come onnnnnn!!

How do I stick to it?

Is it healthy without all the substitutes?

AND I have a bag of chik'n patties which have egg white powder so what do I do with them? (cant give them to foodbanks or anything there is none near. i live in a really small town which sucks monkey butt)

  1. try going to wal*mart maybe

  2. You don't need tofu. Tofu is just beans-whatever nutrients you get from tofu you can get from another bean or lentil. If you're drinking soy milk then you're basically drinking liquid tofu.

All of the substitutes are made of some sort of bean, generally soy. You don't need those at all. They make things fun when you can have a mock meat but that's about it.

About the chicken pattie things, I assume you got the Morningstar Farms chicken patties. I figure since you already bought it and the money is already on its way to the company you might as well eat them and learn for later on.

Google the vegan food pyramid and it can tell you what you need to be eating to stay healthy. People have been free of meat and dairy for years before all this stuff came out. You'll be fine. Tofu and all that other c**p is just processed goodies anyway.

PS Wal-mart I hear does have tofu, but I dunno if you know about Wal-mart's practices. I for one refuse to shop there, as do many vegans I know. They exploit little kids in 3rd world countries for work and stuff, plus they're a huge monopoly. It'd be great if you found any other store than them.

  3. Our Wal Mart has tofu and other soy products.  They are in all our regular supermarkets too.  You can eat beans.  Most stores have canned or dried beans (black, pinto, etc).  Tofu is good, but there are ther foods to eat.

  4. Why don't you buy online? Here in the UK there are a few really good online wholefoods shops that sell just about anything you could think of that would suit a vegan. I usually wait and then make a huge order to stock up.

As for the patties... don't you have any friends who could take them off your hands? If not, I would just throw them away.

Sorry I'm not from Canada so I don't know. There should be though. Just search for 'wholefoods stores' that sell online. Not all will have a lot of vegan products some some will. Find the one with the most and then stock up.

  5. if you have a wal*mart or Ingles go there they have everything !

    :)

  6. here's some tips

    make your own bean burgers

    get natural PB

garbanzo beans (make ur own hummus)

cornstarch or bananas work as egg alternatives in baked goods

you don't need tofu or soy--it's like taking a BC pill. calcium supplements instead.

frozen veggies last longer than fresh. just try to get organic.

  7. YOu must have a food store/market/stand that sells fresh produce....right?

I would stick to whole grains, fruits, vegetable, beans, nuts & seeds for every day eating. I would then buy some faux meats, cheeses and other vegan products online.

Frankly it's healthier without all the faux meats and ready made vegan foods. So yes you can do it if you want too.
