Question:

Stingray injury!!?

so i was surfing the taco bell reef at huntington yesterday and i stepped on a ray and it tore the c**p out of my foot. i work retail part time so i have to wear shoes..am i at a high risk of infection if i wear socks/shoes over the wound or do they heal up fairly quickly?

  1. the ones on the East Coast hurt like h**l and take months to close the wound. A friend had one jab him and was out of the water for about 2 months.

    Go to a doctor for sure.

    When this does happen, I've heard putting the wound in as hot a water as you can tolerate will help break down the enzymes that are going to do the damage. I don't know how well that works, if at all. I would...

  2. Treat it like any other open wound.  Make sure there's nothing in the wound, keep it clean and wrapped up.  After wearing your shoes and socks at work, clean out the wound again and let it air out.
