please do not just solve these for the answer, but give a brief explanation as to how you got them, so I can refresh my memory on how to do this branch of Chemistry again. Thanks!!!

1. Several brands of antacid tablets use aluminum hydroxide to neutralize excess acid.

Al(OH)3(s) + 3HCl(aq) --> AlCl3(aq) + 3H20(l)

What quanity of HCl, in grams, can a tablet with 0.750g of Al(OH)3 consume? What quantity of water is produced?

  1. 1 Al(OH)3(s) + 3HCl(aq) --> AlCl3(aq) + 3H20(l)

    find moles using molar mass:

    0.750 g Al(OH)3  @ 78.00 g/mol = 0.009615 moles of Al(OH)3

    ===========

    What quanity of HCl, in grams,

    find moles:

    0.009615 mol Al(OH)3  @ 3 mol HCl / 1 mol Al(OH)3 = 0.0288 moles HCL

    find grams using molar mass:

    0.0288 moles HCL @ 36.46 g/mol =

    your answer : 1.05 grams HCl

    ===============================

    What quantity of water is produced?

    the moles of H2O = moles HCl

    find grams using molar mass:

    0.0288 moles H20  @ 18.02 g/mol =

    your answer : 0.520 grams H2O
