Stolen camera false claim?

My friend said that he got a free camera because he had theft camera insurance. Is this true could he really get a free camera this way? How hard would it be to lie to a insurance company about somthing this small? There would not have to be evidence that it was stolen because there is nothing there to prove. How do insurance comapnies keep from losing money this way?

Also reporting a false claim is a crime. It is insurance fraud and it is a felony.  You will have to file a police report for the false claim-- and filing a false police report is a crime also.
