Question:

Store won't take back bedding?

I bought a bedding set for $899 with sheets and comforter. When I got home it had a big red stain in the comforter like Kool aid. The store says they don't take back used bedding but I'm not the one who used it! I think someone else did and returned it. What do I do now?

  1. Hi Honey,

Sorry to say,  there is nothing you can do about getting your money back from that store.  I do believe that it is a law... that stores cannot resell used bedding due to such things as bed bugs.

You spent a fortune on that set and it is ashame you are simply stuck with it.   I do believe what I would do is take it to the cleaners and inquire about getting it professionally cleaned.  At least this way,  it is not a complete loss.

    Good Luck.

    Thanks for reading

  2. depends on that store policy , if they told you that wouldn't not take it back then ask to speak to the manager and tell him/her that the stain was already there , I 'm surprised that if someone would have returned it , they would put it back on the shelve to sell , perhaps it was an honest mistake that they made , but you have spent all that money for it , I would contact whomever is on charge at that store . If you bought the comforter that means that you really liked it , so if they don't want to take it back  ask for an exchange or have it dry cleaned. And the next time that you purchase something look at it when you are in the store to avoid you any problems.

  3. you should ask to talk with a manager and demand a return- even if they have to give you store credit it's better than nothing.

  4. Now if you did not immediately learn this and waited a couple of days then thats where you went wrong. If you did call them back like the next day then they need to show you where the policy states they do not take used bedding because they did and resold it! And ask them why would you want to return a bedding that cost $900 dollars if you had messed it up I mean if you can pay that much money for that then you can pay to clean it.

Like i said they say they don't take back used but they must have right! Now you were asking for your money back you would have taken another one so where is the problem they can afford to sell it at a discount to those who don't mind cleaning it

  5. You might try going up the ladder a little bit at the store.  Did you talk to the manager on duty?  Or the overall store manager?  If all else fails, you can check online for the Better Business Assoc. in the store's community, and make a complaint.  (You'd probably need to figure out where their corporate headquarters are.) You might even be able to take them to small claims court, which I understand is expensive.  Of course, even threatening to take these steps would likely convince the management to be more reasonable.

I don't agree that you're just stuck with this.  I would definitely make a fuss, and then know to never shop there again.  At that price, it's worth a hassle.  It's outrageous that they would sell damaged goods, then call you a liar.  If they don't refund it, can you let us know what store it is, so we can avoid it, too?
