How could the time of a hurricane landfall on a particular day influence strorm-surge height?

  1. If the hurricane happens to make landfall during high tide, storm surge would be far more damaging than if the hurricane made landfall during low tide.


  2. You may sometimes hear of something called a Catastrophic High Tide.   That is a high tide that is occuring with a storm that is making landfall.
