I planted everbearing strawberry plants this year for the first time. The leaves look very good, and I have several strawberries on each plant. My problem is they have already turned red and they are really small. They are still too small to eat, but they are ripe. What's the problem?

  1. The other answer is the best solution for improving the berry size for the following year.

Using a 10-10-10 fertilizer before planting is also a good idea and don't Over fertilize.

June bearing or spring bearing, everbearing and day neutral are the three types of strawberries  fruits of day neutral plants and everbearers are usually smaller than June-bearers fruit.

  2. The plant is too young.  Remove the berries and let the plant grow this season.  Next year the berries should be bigger.

This small-berry phenomenon is actually quite common in fruit-bearing plants in its first year.  Let the plant grow vegetatively the first year so it can develop a strong root system first.
