Strengthening Wireless Connections?

Well, i just found out that my wireless connection fails me in my new room. the router is upstairs and well, my new room is downstairs. I can't really move the router since it's plugged to the Ethernet cable (and that's connected to the computer (or something) which is upstairs.

Can anyone give me tips on how to strengthen the connection so that I can actually use my laptop in my room?

  1. Get 50 meters of lan cable, ugly but cheap

  2. slightly move it incase a wall or something is blocking the signal.. move it away from phones. get a longer ethernet cord then plug it in on a desk or somethin...

  3. try wrapping tin foil around it like a satelite dish, suprisingly this works quite well, just point it to your room. if your really desperate you can make a trip to radioshack and spend 40 bucks or so and buy a 2 foot long antenna and connect that to the router. good luck
