Question:

Stuck on litter? My lionhead is!?

I just brought home a lionhead bunny and I am trying to litter train her, but the litter I have sticks all over her, in her fur, in her ears (I really don't know how...), and she kicks it everywhere. I use Kaytee Soft Sorbent because that is what the cage came with, but I was wondering if anyone had a better brand to use that won't stick my little Elizibeth and get everywhere.

  1. You can try corn cob, yesterday's news, feline pine, or carefresh/critter care. These products won't cling to the bunny's fur. As long as the bedding in the bottom of the cage and the litter in her pan are different, she can tell where the potty is. And if you're going to let her be free range, it's best to have several corner litter pans out where she can get to one fast if need be.

  2. try a non clumping kind or possibly wood chips.

  3. Yes, I agree a pelleted litter would be best.  Yesterday's News or any wood pellet litter.  If your rabbit is digging her litter out, get some plastic canvas (for needle point/crafts) and cut to size to fit snuggly in the box over the litter.

  4. use wood chips

  5. Wow she can be a little stinker! Try to gently brush i tout of her fur and somehow get it out of her ears! She may not like the bedding. Here is a good bedding:

That keeps the smell down so you don't have to change it often, and it is soft for her feet. It is $7 on http://www.petsmart.com/ and it comes with 50 liters If you don't like the color, here is a plain white one, which you can choose between 10, 23, or 50 liters of bedding:

I would try the small one first to make sure she might like it better. If you don't have a petsmart near you, it is possible you can order this too!

    Hope this helped=) Good luck!
