Student Council Tips?

I'm running for my grade vice president and I need tips. It all seems like a popularity contest but i think I have a chance to win. What can I do to get people to vote for me? I am not allowed to pass out buttons/sticker/etc. to campaign myself. The most important things are my posters and my speach. Do you have any tips or ideas that could help me?

  1. it is wrong thing

  2. make yourself a web page for the election and promise the student body that every one that votes for you gets a nude pic after you win

  3. There is an organization called Toastmasters which teaches its members how to give the greatest speeches in the world, and other useful stuff, like how to think on your feet, like when the teacher asks a question & you are clueless, what you can say to get an "A".  Find a chapter near you & join.

Do you have any campaign promises, that you have a shot at fulfilling, that are allowed by school policies, your classmates might want to have, and easier for you to do than some other opponent who might say "I can also promise that."

You may be able to go for humor.

Find some cartoons that you really like, then contact the cartoonist and ask permission to reprint their stuff, giving due credit to their name, in your campaign slogan "No scandals when ____ (your name) in charge" & you show cartoons about scandals in the real world.  Make sure the Principal's office has a copy of your permission to reprint this stuff, so they don't jump to any conclusions.

You will probably have to contact several cartoonists before you get permission from one of them.

By using different cartoons on different posters, moving them around periodically, putting up a new poster every few days, you will attract an audience of people going to check out your posters for the latest cartoons, and talking about them ... did you see the cartoon on ____ (your name) poster in the library, lunch room, wherever?  They talk about, then a bunch of students go look, and you get name recognition for a brand of entertainment.  Be sure not to pick just on one political party or topic ... pick on ALL of them.

All you are promising is no scandals when you are in office, but what you are delivering is entertainment.

    Here are my favorites.

scroll all the way down to the bottom, then click on the "flow chart"  You can get this on a T-Shirt ... you might check out what that costs, and organize some way to hand out some copies of this as "gifts" to your strongest "supporters"

Beware ... you might be asked to give a speech to some economics class "explaining" this chart.
