Studying in America?

Hi,

I am really interested in studying in the United States. I would like to study Law, and would like to practise this in the States once I obtain my degree. Can anyone give me some information on the process of applying to an American University? Which American Universities are the best for Law? Can I receive any financial aid? Do I have to take the SAT test as well as the A-Levels which I will sit in England?

Thanks

  1. the www.ed.gov the us federal ed website has info and links to accredited univ or colleges. most univ have programs already in place for non us students. also go to www.travel.state.gov and www.state.gov to find how to get in as a student. good luck. not alll univ have the sat requirement and i am not sure how that works. go to say the university of utah for example and see thier info on students like yourself.

also see www.ice.gov for more info on students

  2. Yale, Harvard, Stanford are probabally the best law schools in America. But they certainly aren't the only ones. Here is a list of Law Schools here:  http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandre...

As far as applying, most schools have on their web sites information for international students to help them get started.

  3. There are many schools in the US that offer help to foreign students.  You can find a lot of information on the internet.   Go to Google.com and enter "law school  US foreign student" and you will get a lot of sites that will help you.   Good luck!

  4. I think I answered the same question this week. Well, if you think you are qualified, then try Harvard, or Yale and other Ivy League schools. Because of their low acceptance, you will have to apply to two or more universities. You DO receive financial aid in Law, and it is need-based. To request financial aid, you will have to tick a box refers to financial aid on the application form (which you received from the Admission office). Remember that those schools are competitive, so try to apply at least 1 and a half year prior to your first-year. And yes, your SAT and TOEFL score must be very high (iBT TOEFL 96+).

Also, about the process of applying to these schools :

    *Harvard : http://www.law.harvard.edu/admissions/

(if you do not understand, live chat with a staff member by going to this http://www.law.harvard.edu/students/sfs/...

    *Yale : http://www.law.yale.edu/admissions/howto...

    Hope this helped.

  5. you do not have to take A-levels but SATS, yes.

here is my wise advice which you should follow..

DO NOT STUDY IN AMERICA IT SUCKS I HATE IT.

i wish i still lived in England, please just value what you have. I wish i had spoken up when my parents asked if i really wanted to move here. please, you dont want to go through with this, the two countries are so different you dont want to go through this change, especially at this point in your life when you are having your most important education. trust me DONT MOVE DONT MOVE DONT MOVE.
