How is studying law in England different from studying law in the United States? If I study law in England would I be able to work as a lawyer in the US? Is it a shorter amount of time studying in the UK rather than in the US?

NO. if you study english law, you may only practice in england. if you study in US, you may only practice in US. This is because the laws for each country (not to mention state by state in US) are all different. Scottish law is also different from England (although there are more differences between American and English law than there is between Scottish and English). If you are planning to study overseas, remember that universities only accept so many foreign students per year and the funding they can apply for (if any) is limited, as is their ability to work in the country they are studying in.
