Question:

Submitting something on deviant art?

i am trying to submit a deviation, but when i try to submit it, it says choose preview, and, one, i don't fully understand what a preview is, and two, i am using photoshop elements 4.0. the file type is psd, if you can tell me what a preview is and what to do with it, that would be great. thank you! :D

  1. The "preview" is what the image will look like when it isn't in fullscreen/zoomed in mode. According to Deviantart's FAQ, "Acceptable Previews are jpeg, png or small (100x100px) gifs."  Basically, it's a thumbnail.

    Things will be much simpler for you if you save your file as a JPG or a PNG. If you do this, Deviantart will create a thumbnail of your image automatically.

    To save your file as something other than a PSD, open it in your Photoshop program, go to File> Save As. A new window will pop up.  In this window, there is an option bar to give your file a name. Underneath of that, there is a drop-down menu that allows you to specify the file's format. Pick something like JPEG or PNG. You can do more research online as to which file type will suit you best.

    If you do not want to change your original file into something other than a PSD, a suitable preview can be created in much the same way.
