The subwoofer of my friend did buzz at night even he sure had turned off all the AV system. It had been so annoying, eventually, he disabled this subwoofer. Any idea why that happened? The model is The Anthony Gallo Acoustics TR-1. THANKS!!

  1. The amp is obviously is still on. Try turning it off at the switch instead of at the power strip.

  2. Also look into a power conditioner like Panamax. Check to see if there's a strong electrical current running nearby. It has helped my system & even stopped a very bad surge once. See link I provided.

  3. I had the exact same problem, my sub made a humming noise whenever I turned off my receiver.

It turned out to be a defect in the sub cable.

Try a different cable, if there's no buzzing then it's a problem with your cable, if it still buzzes it's either the receiver or the sub. So the next step is to try your sub on another receiver, if it buzzes it's the sub, if not it's the receiver.

  4. your sub woofer i assume has a built in amplifier,it may be getting feedback from other electrical sources ie. the power cable plugged into the wall

check to make sure you have a good cable running from the amp to the sub.a good shielded cable and keeping power wires away from the signal wire should help if not eliminate the problem
