Suggestions for potty training???

my son is 21 months and i cant seem to get him intrested in using the potty befor it is too late. he likes to go in and sit on it... but has yet to actually pee in it. suggestions please.

21 months is still very young to be trying to potty train. Most children at that age are just learning that pee pee and poo poo come from different places. Until they can come up to you and tell you they have a pee pee or poo poo in their diaper, it is too early. Besides that if the child is really not ready yet, it is going to take you forever to potty train. It should not take that long to potty train if they are truly ready. Follow their cues. If they are not interested, then back off for a bit and try again in a little while.

Mother of two, here.

I can offer a few tips:

• Have him watch Daddy (or Grampa, Uncle, brother, etc) go.

• Put him in underwear or let him walk around nakey. He'll be more concious of his body and recognize when he's wet or tinkling.

• Set the timer and go to the potty every hour.

• Take him to the potty 10 - 15 minutes after he's had a drink

• Keep a container of M & M's (out of his reach) in the bathroom and reward him if he goes.

• (If he's standing) put Cheerios in the toilet for him to aim at.

Remember: don't repremend him if he has an accident & keep him in diapers during nap/nighttime and while you're not at home.

Main thing is to watch for his signal that he is ready.  Without that you are in a losing battle.  I would let him start watching daddy or grandpa so that he understands what he is suppose to do there and try some of the potty games with him.  Biggest thing is don't get on to him if he has an accident.

try using blue food coloring kids will be interested in the color change or try cherrios boys sometime like to shoot them down if you know what i mean if there is a dad have the dad show him

I've been waiting for someone to ask this question because I HAVE THE ANSWER!!!  : ) threedaypottytraining.com.  Look it up.  I didn't believe in it when my sister told me about it, but it worked miraculously!!!!  My 2 year old was as interested in potty training as he was in flying to the moon.  I tried this method and it was worth EVERY PENNY I paid for it!
