  1. It's nice for a guy to pay every now and then, but it's also good for the girl to chip in. Ex. You pay the bill and she leaves the tip.

Or she could pay half then you pay your half, or she could pay for the whole deal.

But if it's for a first date I think both of you should pay (she pays her part and you pay your part).

Ask her first and make sure shes comforable with that.

In the end if you are always paying for everything, you might get the wrong idea about her, think that she taking advantage of you.

Good Luck, and sushi sounds delicious!

  2. I never have checks split, i think it's tacky. People should know how much they ordered and if they don't they can look at the bill and figure it out. Maybe people I go out to eat with are just better at this but when we get a $100 bill for 4 people, everyone just throws in $30 or more, no questions asked. It's pointless to be like "well your entree was 13.00 and mine was 14.00, but you got a salad to start and that's 3.00"...oh just throw in some cash!

If it's really obvious that some people had more expensive things, or if they had more to drink, they should own up to it and throw in more. If your friends don't do this, you should reevaluate your dinner companions.

As far as sushi goes, everything is pretty much shared. If you want to split it, I would just split it down the middle, that would be the most fair. When I go out to sushi with my boyfriend, I'll usually throw down more though because I like to get some stuff that he won't eat.
