  1. no but what you can do is hire a tutor over the summer that will come like once a week for 2 hours to help him with spelling reading and math

it could be one of his favorite teachers, so he is comfortable and yet wont spend his summer in skool

  2. Yes!  Summer school will only help bolster his reading/math skills.  Kudos to you for being a concerned parent!

  3. The way to improve at reading is to read.  Get him interested in reading and he'll improve.  (Many eons ago, my daughter's third grade teacher had a "reading loft" in the classroom.  If a student read the required amount of outside reading, s/he was rewarded with time in the reading loft.  Not one kid in that class had problems with reading, they were so eager to read.)

Math is a different matter - repeating a class doesn't help.  Hire a good math tutor.  Even a high school student who's good in math and good at teaching will help a lot more than summer school.

  4. Let him have som fun this summer, and have him read every day like set a time.

Get him more orginized, and you should check out the video how to make homework less. it tells you how to make a good work space and other things like that.

  5. I have a daughter who struggles in school. I think summer school is a good way to help your son exceed, rather then fall further from where he should be. Summer school allows your son to continue to practice skills and lessens his chance of loosing what he picks up.
