Summer volunteer opportunities for a teenager???

Question

i need volunteer hours but i have no idea where to go. im 14 and i dont want to work in a library, hospital or senior home. what other options are there for me??? preferably somewhere close to Grapevine TX...?

is there a youth center/ foster care center in your area -  you can volunteer to go and read to / play with the kids there, they may need kitchen or clean up help.

check with your local city hall about volunteering to help with lansdscaping / clean up in local parks or  on those grassy dividers on the streets - ask at city hall for other volunteer opportunities

camino seguro/safe passage. it's in guatemala, but it's most likely the best thing you could be doing this summer. go with you mom/dad/someone for a few weeks.

you can get over 60 hours if you volunteer with them for two weeks. they take very good care of their volunteers, escorting them, taking them on weekend trips to volcanoes or lakes or other places, and they can also help you take spanish classes at a language school. it's a really great place to volunteer.

i know it isn't in texas, but look at their website www.safepassage.org. you'll get to work with the kids in their program, and they'll all love you the second you step into the door (or before that). you don't need to know any spanish, some is helpful, but like i said, they'll help you with the language school, and a phrasebook can help you out.

otherwise volunteer at a children's museum, it's really fun and if you work a few solid weeks you can be set with your hours.
