Supersize me??

What was interesting to me is that when the movie Supersize me came out... some of my friends said they would never eat their again, yet I saw them weeks later eating big macs and fries there.

I think Supersize me is a good movie... but I think it really is exaggerating things.

I mean Morgan says that there are some people who eat Mcdonalds more than 3 times a week, but I can't really see that happening.

I mean... Mcdonalds I guess I could see Mcdonalds 3 times a week, but his documentray seemed very unreal.

No one eats Mcdonalds 3 times a day, nor do they only eat Mcdonalds..

Supersize me was interesting, but I highly doubt that Morgan would of had the same results if he was eating Mcdonalds once a day 3 times a week, because you would have to factor in other things that he would eat.

Anyone agree with this? If not... why?

  1. It was an experiment to see what would happen if a person ate McDonald's (and only McDonald's) for breakfast, lunch and dinner for 30 days.  I believe it's real, that he really did it.  Otherwise, who in their right mind would eat so much fast food from anywhere!  To top it all off, before his experiment, he ate really healthy meals prepared by his vegan chef girlfriend.  No wonder he puked so soon after starting the McD's diet!

  2. Hi,

never saw the movie, but am a former McD employee (4 stores in 3 states) ... there certainly are MANY people who eat McD regularly, everyday for breakfast or lunch or dinner, and many who do eat 2 or more McD meals per day.

it is relatively cheap and definitely tasty food, for people who have short lunch breaks it can be quite convenient.  some people even look to it to load up on carbs, if you can dig that - i figured they'd just die early, but to each his own.

wish i understood the premise of the movie and what happened to morgan... did he turn into a french fry?

    that's all i got

  3. I have seen this movie, and it is indeed real.  Some people really do eat McDonalds 3 times a day everyday.  Ever since the movie, i don't eat there anymore.  The only time i go in there is when they have those rare holiday milkshakes.

  4. I am thinking about doing an anthesis movie for this.

  5. I think he was really trying to exaggerate the effects of fast food. Sure it is not the healthiest food to eat, but in moderation it is ok to eat out.

  6. I agree he wouldn't have the same effects but his intent was to show "rapidly" how bad the food is for the body.  Many of us can tolerate stuff like that because we are used to it and it is slowly killing us but you are right, no one eats there that much.  It's just like Vegans or Vegetarians who eat meat, they get very sick, their body doesn't adapt well to that for a little while and then they are fine.  Same thing for those people who are lactose intolerant (however that is more of a deficiency), so I think Morgan had the effects he had because he wasn't able to adapt and wasn't used to that diet.  If you watch the show, the stuff he ate prior to that is all organic and very earthy, so for him to abandon that and go for such greasy food would definitely make him sick!  There was no faking it!  I know that when I haven't eaten fast food for a long time, sometimes I go for 6 months, it makes me very sick.

  7. Morgan was trying to prove McDonald's wrong when they said they were healthy food. and that people COULD eat them every day for breakfast lunch and dinner and it would be a good thing.

His doc proved them wrong.  that , if someone ate them every day they would be unhealthy.

  8. I think Morgan was trying to show, in an exaggerated way, how bad fast food is for us. And alot of people eat fast food more than 3 times a week. If fast food could do that to his body in an exclerated way, imagine what it's doing to our bodies?? Besides, stay clear of Macdonalds, they cut more rain forest to make their paper products than any other company.

  9. I'll just say that once I was practically addicted to Dairy Queen bacon, egg, & cheese biscuits and ate one, sometimes two every morning (except weekends), for about 6 weeks. I definately gained weight from it because my other meals were pretty healthy and I don't eat sweets, drinks colas and such. I felt crappy after the first 3 weeks but I still woke up craving them. It was like I was pregnant and have to have it. It was so weird that when I didn't eat one, my stomach would ache. If I ate something else, I still wanted to eat that fricken biscuit. I gained about 6-7 lbs, in that 6 weeks period and after I stopped eating them, I gradually started feeling better. I didn't feel bloated, and I didn't have that bad tummy feeling you get when you eat greasy stuff all the time. I still eat them from time to time but never more than once or twice a week.

So, I can honestly say, I sorta did what this guy did but I only ate it for breakfast and I did feel like c**p all the time. (tummy aches, fatigue)I don't even wanna know what my sodium levels were at the time.

  10. It's true that it is taking it to the extreme. But if you really watched the movie he explains this. That even though it is a extreme level to take it to it is still very unhealthy. There are plenty of people that eat mcdonalds like a drug, my neighboor pretty much eats it atleast once to twice a day.
