  1. I use Horseshoer's Secret on my appendix gelding. I've tried a few other, including Farrier's Formula, and I've had the most luck with this one. Also, you could use a paint-on hoof hardener such as Keratex and/or a moisturizer like Shur Hoof or Rainmaker or Corona.

  2. Leaps and bounds ( It works and its great )

  3. You could get cornucresine origional hoof ointment. It encourages growth and keeps hoofs in good condition, and is soo easy to use.

Or you could get Effol hoof ointment wich is basically the same thing encorouges growth and helps against cracks etc. Also easy to use.

    Good luck. x

  4. Look for something with biotin.  Usually if a horse is getting a well balanced ration, suppliments aren't necessary.  If the hooves are especially brittle, biotin can help.  You may also need to apply a hoof dressing to keep the hoof wall from drying out.

  5. OK my horse has that same problem. There is a thick syrup-y like stuff called "Hoof Heal" or "Hoof Flex". They are both the same. Hoof Heal is in a pink can and Hoof Flex is blue-ish. They work AMAZINGLY. They also help provide moisture to prevent this kind of thing and they make it grow FAST! Just apply it two times a day, morning and night. It will work wonders, here's a link to check it out.

They are available at most stores that carry horse items.

  6. Farrier's Formula - it's like pellets and you add it to his normal feed. Actually it smells great and he'll eat it out of your hand if he gets the chance. It contains Biotin and will be good for his skin and coat too.

Actually on his hooves the best thing to use is Cornucresine -paint it on using a brush that you won't be wanting for anything else though as it's gunky stuff - it's also excellent for fingernails ( so I was told)

  7. Grand hoof and/or ferrier formula.  my horses feet are now as perfect as a picture and are not to soft and not to hard but just right.  i used Grandhoof.

  8. Why?  Does he wear shoes?  If he is shod, his feet will never heal.  If you give your horse a balanced diet, that is the best you can do.  Supplementation will not help and even if it did, it would take a year to grow in a new foot.  Also, it is not recommended to put oils and dressings and topical things on the hoof wall.  You want your horse's feet to be strong and they can never be too dry.  You do not want to do anything that would soften your horse's feet.  The hoof can never to be too hard.  Hoof problems can be so frustrating and difficult but there is no quick fix.  Time is the best healer along with adequate movement.  Turn him out as much as possible.  The more stimulation his feet get, the better they will recover and barefoot is better with a good barefoot trim.  Again, if he has shoes, his feet will never be healthy as they could be.  good luck.  be patient.
