Surfers hating bodyboarders?

Question

Do surfers hate ALL bodyboarders? Even the ones who know all the rules, never cut other surfers off, wait their turn in the lineup and are actually good? I've worked years at perfecting my bodyboarding, can do airs, floaters, 360's, you name it, and still receive c**p from surfers. How can a bodyboarder (even one that's a girl) earn some respect out in the lineup?

i have never heard of surfs hating bodyboarders probley because dalyellup beach has an area that surfs usely are move toa different spot

my beach most surfers also bodyboard...i only bodyboard

yeah...surfers call us bodyboarders in australia speed humps...when ur in the line up watch who surfs good and who surfs S**t then drop in real DEEP on the S**t surfers and call the wave ie got it or move that way they'll think u wont take c**p...so get out the back and test it out..i would like to kno how it goes..ps start to do flips :)

no most of my friends are spongers! lol we play around taking each others waves but we have respect for da rest of da peeps, you gotta be good and not hog all the waves and smile. everyone loves a surfer whos having fun bodyboarder, body surfer etc...

Ive  only heard of skimers hating  bodyboarders.... Just show the surfers up......................

The thing is, body boarding takes very little skill compaired to surfing. Surfers are for the most part very passionate about surfing, and the ocean. They/ we have a sense of ownership over our home breaks. We constantly are studying surf and weather reports. Our lives revolve around that special patch of sand and we take it personally when people who have no clue what they're doing come and invade our little sanctuary. Learn to surf and you'll probably get a little more respect. It sucks because a small few make it crappy for everyone.

Not really, I've seen videos where bodyboarders and surfers actually surf alongside each other. Although the quality of waves a bodyboarder uses is smaller than a surfer, I don't see any reason why they shouldn't get along. Hey, they both use the same water.

No, I'm a surfer and I don't hate all bodyboarders, just as I expect all bodyboarders don't hate all surfers.  I don't know how hostile it is where you are but to 'earn' respect just don't drop in on anyone, snake them or anything like that, if people drop in on you shout at them.

Of course the ultimate way to get respect would be to start surfing ;)

I have been surfing for 42 years and I don't hate anybody. I get really annoyed at body boarders who don't use good surf etiquette, and get in my way. At my age, every wave counts. But I get just as annoyed at smart Alec yuppie kids on their popout boards getting in my way, too. We all have to share the ocean, we should do it with a smile and courtesy. Some surfers are so aggressive, that they think that they own the water, and they may show contempt for body boarders, but remember, surfing is for everyone.

No, I just hate long boarders (male only).

Girls on any type of board are welcome to surf next to me anytime and if anybody gives you c**p, I will run them over! JK but not really
