My boyfriend just got out of the water at the beach. He was boogie boarding and the waves were pretty big and throwing him around pretty bad. Now he's complaining that his head hurts and his ears are killing him. He keeps trying to pop his ears so I'm guessing they might have water in them or something. Has anyone ever had this happen to them or know what it is and to make it feel better. Please help, thanks

  1. If his head hurts pretty bad, its possible he got a slight concussion as well.  In the water, you can get tossed around by the turbulance of the wave and thus anything can happen.

If he is sensitive to bright light or some other signs of a concussion, take it easy, maybe see the doctor.

As for the ears, let the water come out naturally.  Its likely that he got more water up in his nose and nasal area then he realizes.....He may have had some water run out of his nose an hour or 2 after getting out....thats happens a lot but nothing to be alarmed about.

Just chill out, have a beer, enjoy Memorial Day unless he thinks he has a concussion, then go to the doc.

  2. dont pop the ears with water in them, that will make the water go in deeper. try jumping up and down with your head sideways.

It could be red tide(google it) or that he is just a whimp.

  3. He just has to wait and eventually theyll get better. it takes a while so dont hold your breath.
