Surge protector question.?

I have a Nintendo Wii, Playstation 2 and a Xbox 360 hooked up to a surge protector. When I turn off the surge protector it turns all my consoles off as well (If I plugged my consoles straight into a wall socket the consoles don't turn off, they actually go into semi-off state where the power light is still on. With my consoles plugged into my surge protector when the surge protector is turned off the power lights on my gaming systems are all off). So, are my gaming consoles safe from surges when I have my surge portector powered off?

My surge protector is a Monster Cable Power Protect Surge Protector (MP HTIB 650) if that helps.

Yes, they are safe the switch in the off position is providing a physical circuit open.
