  1. How exciting, I had a laparoscopic op about a month ago, scars are tiny! Not sure what you are trying to ask, I doubt you will feel up to smoking when you come round!? Depends what you are having done I guess. Give the admissions team at your hospital a quick call and ask. Dont be worried you will be fine, best of luck and get well soon :)

  2. If you quit now, the adverse cardiac effects of smoking will be less.  You're still going to hack and cough as you wake up from the anesthesia - the breathing tube will irritate your airway.  We can ALWAYS tell who the smokers are.  You should quit for AT LEAST 6 weeks after the surgery so that your body can get enough oxygen to heal properly.

Please try to quit for good.  You will save yourself SO MANY health problems down the road, and you're young enough that your lungs will heal up well over time.

    Good luck with the surgery.
